World Ozone Day 2020
Dr. Anil Prakash Joshi. World Ozone Day 2020 Environment means the covering of the earth and its most important part is the ozone layer or ozone shield. About 15 to 35 km from Earth as a colorless gas level. The ozone layer present above is mainly found in the Earth's stratosphere, which absorbs the sun's harmful ultraviolet rays. Nature has decided to require this armor because the sun's ultraviolet rays and their radiation adversely affect the earth. The task of stopping them is of the ozone layer.
Got the Earth's Cover: The ozone layer was first discovered by French physicists Charles and Henry in 1913. He wanted to see that the radiation which reaches the Earth from the Sun does not cause any harm inside the Earth because that temperature believed to be around 5500-6000 degree centigrade. This ozone layer does not allow ultraviolet rays of the moderate frequency of the sun to reach the earth till its 97-99 percent and the earth saved from major losses. Another research work done in the year 1976 found that the ozone layer slowly being destroyed due to human activities.
Research on the ozone layer has been ongoing for a long time. The research revealed that the main reasons for the destruction of this layer are gases, which are the products of industries. It has two elements like chlorine, bromine, Which are causing it great harm and due to which this layer is getting thinner. In this, the polar region and Antarctica suffered more from it.
Research on Ozone Layer
Supersonic also dangerous: In the year 1970, scientists tried to pursue this research by studying it. That why the US also had to suspend supersonic transport, as almost every major aircraft releases nitrogen oxides. In 1974, a study by American chemists Mario and Sherwood found that chlorofluoron carbon-containing atoms of carbon, fluorine, and chlorine has the highest potential to damage the ozone layer. In pursuing this study, Krutzen Molina and Rolain made a major contribution to this work. For this, he awarded the Nobel Prize in the year 1995.
Resource loss: Continuous human activities are causing great damage to the ozone layer. It first discovered in 1985, after which the Montreal Protocol adopted in 1987. To investigate the production and consumption of chlorofluorocarbons, which completely banned this chemical compound. However, not only chlorofluorocarbons, but also the Holo carbon emanating from refrigerators and air conditioners is damaging the ozone layer.
The question of the safety of all: Research published in 1985 told that the situation worsening. In Antarctica at a rate of 60 percent compared to other areas. All this has been before us for the last three decades, but despite all these studies. Between 1970 and 1990, the ozone layer suffered a five percent global loss. It is necessary to debate, negotiate, and try this at every level. Because the ozone layer is not only the defense of any one country but a shield for all of us.
